Bruce Willis
Bruce Willis, an actor and musician, is
well-known for his tough-edged roles or humorous characters in action films. He
has been in over $2.5 billion dollars of films. Walter Bruce Willis, a actor
from West Germany, was born in Idar–Oberstein West Germany on March 19 1955, to
Marlene Kassel (from Carneys Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey),
who lived on a military base in the United States. The family relocated to the
U.S. shortly after he was born, and he was raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey
where his mother was employed in a bank, while his father worked as a welder
and factory worker. Willis began to show an interest in drama arts in high
school. He was "discovered" during his time working at an New York
City cafe. In the following years, he appeared in numerous off-Broadway
productions. As a bartender one night it was discovered that he was spotted by
a casting director who liked his persona and was in need of bartenders for a
tiny movie part. Willis was a candidate for a variety of roles in films, but
was not acknowledged. He was eventually offered the role as David Addison, a
private eye, along with Cybill Shepherd, in the romantic comedy show
Moonlighting (1985). His witty and sarcastic P.I. is seen by some as an attempt
to play the role of hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the
cult film Die Hard (1988), in the film, Willis' character single-handedly
battled a gang of ruthless international thieves in the Los Angeles skyscraper.
The sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990) Willis reprised his character as McClane. The
plot set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of
rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to return a corrupt South
American general. The film's outstanding box-office results led to an sequel to
Die Hard with bloodshed (1995). This time, Samuel L. Jackson starred as a
shrewd Harlem shopkeeper who was unaware of his role and was forced to help
McClane during a terror attack on a hot New York City day.
